Question on wrong information giving to employer - 02/05/01
Question
I have married but I don't want and let my employer to know it. As a result, my employer will put "single" in the marriage status field of the coming employer's return. My annual salaries is below my personal allowance. I want to know whether IRD will check it and either the Company and I will bear any liabilities?
Answer
1. IRD is empowered to ask you and your employer to verify the information.
2. If your employer can prove that the information submitted to the IRD is supplied by you, it is not their fault.
3. You may be liable for both your employer and the IRD.
